Food,routine & stocking?

Hi All,

My stock:

2 Tiger Oscars (roughly 5 inch each)
4 Blood Parrots (roughly 4 inch)

Currently i am feeding them pellets and blood worms...is that enough or should i put something else in thier diet aswell?

my routine is that i feed them enough that they finish everything i throw in under 2 mins..furthermore i feed them blood worms in the morning and pellets at night before going to sleep...is that a good enough mix or should i feed them pellets alone and only seldomly on blood worms?

my tank's capacity is 150 gallon however after all the ornaments and gravel etc i can presume is holds roughly 140 gallons of water...can i stock anything else with them or would that be overstocked?

Good morning. Oscars are big waste producers so watch your water chemistry if you add more fish. Maybe a few cory cats would be good. How do your Bloody Parrots get along with the Oscars? I'm a bit worried about them being with Oscars. The Bloody Parrots have no self defense since they can't bite (so to speak) like other fish. Just curious.

Blood worms: You may want to make this a special treat from time to time and not an every day event. My parrots like every type of pellets. Too, there is a special pellet for Blood Red's. Good luck!

well my oscars and blood parrots are getting along pretty fine..so far so that at feeding time my parrots outcompete and literally try and push away the oscars...i can bet that the tables would turn pretty soon but i so pray that no agression ever comes thier way!

about those cory cats...would'nt they be gobbled up by the oscars in a nick!?

Yes they would. Do not put Corys with Oscars, they will eat them.

yeah i definitely wouldn't add any corycats. you might be able to get away with adding a few pictus cats, but IMO you're pretty fully stocked with the oscars already.

here's a link with a great article on feeding oscars, i use this site for lots of my oscar info

and here's a recipe for beefheart which is great to feed them, i know shawnie has a recipe that she uses as well

you could add a school of silver dollars(3) or some pictus(3-4) ....with the blood reds being the same size as the oscars, they will be fine with them...no on the cories I agree ...they will be a snack eventually ....the recipe alex gave you is a great one and I use most of that also in my fish food...but I add some veggies as well..and that recipe is great for all kinds of fish...and very cheap to make..I use a high multi vitamin instead of the prenatal ones but im sure its all the same ...share some pics when you can!
