I could use some help with this. Bugs in the water

I have had a 5 gallon tank up and running with 1 neon 4 glofish and one red blood tail tetra. Everything have been fine for months. I change the water every 2 weeks. Water parameters are all within the normal limits. Water temp is 76 degrees.

Now here is where my problem begins I see these tiny dot like things moving all around the tank. They are sooo small but they are definitely moving. I see nothing attached to any of my fish. Could this be free floating ick? and if it is can I increase the water temps to 84 with these kind of fish?

Thanks so much in advance

are they thread like (worms) or Flea like, if they look like threads they may well be a problem, if they look like little fleas then they are copepods in which case they are just free live fish food

I agree with Jonah. Also you cannot see ICH floating with te naked eye. The only time it is visible is when attached at least to my understanding. Worms can be a sign of bad water conditions as well.
I also dont believe adding an algae eater would help anything in this situation.

I am sure I replied along with others in your other thread that these are probably Copepods/Daphnea/water fleas and a natural souce of free live fish food?

I merged your posts so that everyone can still follow whats going on...having more than one post for the same topic only causes confusion

Thanks shawnie for merging the posts. They are definitely not fry. Jonah Thanks! I researched those things you mentioned and they look nothing like the pictures that I found online. But then again they are VERY small and i was getting grossed out by looking at all the pictures.

OK so say they are water fleas how in the heck do I change the water without touching them? I'm getting grossed out just thinking about it?

Dont feed your fish for a few days they will soon control them for you

Those hmm

If they're stuck to the glass, those are baby snails I think.

I was shocked when I saw the side of my glass full of small 'tadpole' like things squirming around. Could they be snails?

i had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago while i was cycling without the fish...i reconed they'd be nice food for my fish..

finally once the cycle finished and i introduced 'Angels' into it...the very next day by night time they were all gone..

Thanks everyone They are not stuck to the glass. They move about around the glass and swim all over the water. Sometimes i see them by the gravel as well. At first I thought it was the movement from the filter that made them move so I turned off the filter and they were swimming all over.

I can't see the picture for some reason (probably the proxy/filter at the public library here), but I used to have similar creatures in my 5g. They were white, about half a millimeter to a millimeter long, and sometimes would congregate in one area of the glass.

I suspected a build-up of waste/food and stopped feeding for a couple days, but they didn't go away. However, the addition of 8 red cherry shrimp a week ago has my 5g looking cleaner than ever before, and no more "bugs". Not sure if the shrimp ate them or just removed their food supply, but if you can get a hold of some cherry shrimp they make a great cleanup crew for a smaller tank.

Of course, I have sand substrate in the 5g, so it tends to get a bit messier than gravel. I also found that 20% water changes + thorough substrate vacuuming every week helps reduce unwanted creatures.
