maybe 2 stupid questions

1. I have a eheim 2217 canister filter it has a spray bar for the return. should this bar be above the water line or below. I have it currently below and I am not sure if it should be above to create aeration.

2. should I remove the carbon filter from the canister. its been 1 month. i just rinsed it out yesterday in some water i removed from the tank during water change and put it back in.

The ONLY stupid Q is the one you do not ask.

Spray bar is fine wherever you put it so long as it agitates the water. Its the agitation that oxygenates the water.

carbon in the filter kills more that it cures, after about 4 week everything it takes out of the water it leeches back in after it reaches saturation level.

I only use carbon now when I need it to take something from the water otherwise i fill its space in the filter with floss
