Shrimp(?) in my tank!

Is it normal to have a shrimp in the tank housing only fishes and plants?

I have a 30g planted tropical tank with 8 double swordtails ( 3 are breeder size) with 3 corydoras. Simple filtration with powerhead and sponge filter media. As routine, i do a 30-50% bi-weekly water change. While vaccuming gravel, i saw a half-inch light green squirming creature -- and siphoned it. It had 3 legs on each side, long slender body (half-inch) with a tail that tapers into two edges.

my tank feeds only on small pellets and flakes and occasionally live bloodworms. Will post a pic soonest.

Does it have pincher "hands" or a set of "net like" appendages on the front? Also eyes sticking out the sides on little stalks would indicate a shrimp. It doesn't sound like a shrimp but without a picture its hard to say.

Can you put your photo on a flickr or photobucket account? If so grab the URL from there and then click the "picture" button at the top of your message composition box (looks like mountains).

When you reply make sure you go to the advanced screen... Scroll down under 'additional options' and click on 'manage attachments' then you can hit 'browse' and select pics saved on your pc.
