Don't know a thing about the argon but I know if it has an impeller they pretty much are all the same. Find your disassembly instructions and try cleaning out your impeller housing and impeller with a small brush and make sure there is no sand inside. Also spin the impeller on its shaft to feel if its off balance or worn, if so you may need a new impeller. I had a bent impeller on my brand new Penguin 350 that was noisy and called marine land who said they would send me a new one. In the mean time i put a tiny bit of pure petroleum jelly on the shaft and that made it allot quieter now for a week.

iunno about the filter but if its your bubbling thingo making the noise then put it on a used tissue box like in the holey bit so it doesnt touch ground. that quietens mine down alot.

OR you can pump up some trance in some nice speakers which will drown out your fishtank noise then again i suppose headphones would work aswell. just a suggestion...

Oh and don't cover the filter to make it quieter, it might catch fire (no seriously)
