Interesting Experience With the Python!!!

Well, the little brass thingy that hooks to the tap-i thought was stripped. So i took it apart and went to the hardware store lol, before going to home-depot to purchase a new piece. thankfully the guy that helped me new of the Python and pulled it all apart, and said i had to connect very carefully as the brass connection was 'very touchy' and i tried for 2-days to connect it [not good] and 2-cut fingers later this man showed me how to easilly connect it without cut fingers lol, using an allen key if nessecary-which it wasn't. I came home after a long day out and needed to do a w/c and thought oboy bucket bragade again- and i just hooked it up first try. So please don't think the brass is stripped unless you know for sure[men] lol Just thought i would share that with you all bella

Its always those little tips they never tell you about in the instructions that count. Another good tip is after you got the Python all hooked up and ready to start always tie a wash rag around the end of the facet head and just behind the Python. The wash rag will keep excess trickling water from moving back along the facet neck and behind the sink possibly making its way to the floor.

I’ll second that!!! Mine actually sprays water everywhere. The swiveling connection doesn’t seal correctly. It only happens when I have the hose pressurized (with the valve near the vacuum shut off) so it’s not a big deal to me. The cloth does it’s job.

The swivel will tighten if you simultaneously tighten the swivel and connector together on the last 1/4 turn. Hard to explain but if you play with it you'll understand it and then be able to get them snug together.

Yeah I’m actually aware of that. Mine (if not all) also accepts an alan key to tighten it which I have done as tight as I dare. Since it’s done this right from day one I assume I’m just one of the lucky few who bought a defective kit. Since a dish cloth resolves the problem I couldn’t be bothered contacting the manufacture for a replacement.

Gunner; and Dozey, tieing the rag i figured out right away, lol but i did not know about the allen key as my neihbour[sp] hooked it up for me, but unless you are a man , being a women you would figure it is stripped lol. And i thought it was nice of this man to help-as he could have sold me another one and i would have bought it, thinking it was stripped because i just don't know about those things. Thanks guy's bella

I have to go get an adapter for mine today as it won't fit on either of my faucets. I suppose I could run the 50ft hose down to the basement fixture which it WILL fit, and oh what suction for the vacuum! But it will only reach one of my two tanks from down there.

My other option is the outside hose spigot which gives me 38F water (brrrrrr).

Glad to see tips like this before I start using the thing. I feel like I have a head start!

I thought I needed an adaptor when I first purchased mine as well. Not sure if the situation is the same for you but…

The brass fitting comes with TWO o-ring gaskets installed in it. Removing one of the o-ring gaskets will reveal that the adaptor also has internal thread for attaching to faucets.

Yeah all those little tricks they don't tell you about in the instructions. I have the clone version, a Lee's water change kit from Walmart. I love using the vacuum attachment when using it which really picks up and cleans the sand compared to just using a siphon. You just have to really be careful you don't suck up a Cory as they love to follow the dropping sand. I have a loop of the hose 2 feet back in my other hand and when I think I see a fish get sucked up I pinch it, allot of close calls but so far not yet.
