| There could be a number of answers. Some fish will do this naturally and it may also be a result of a swim bladder problem. A swim bladder problem can be a result of an infection which there are medications to treat this and it can also be the result of a dietary issue. You can try soaking flake food prior to feeding as well as feeding some greens such as skinned peas.
Is he showing any other signs of stress such as redness around the gills, gasping, twitching, torn fins, or irregular fins?
