| I'm sorry, I misinterpreted your question. When you do add fish, I like neon tetras, but I think they are more fun in larger schools (>5) if you have room for them. Good luck with your fungus issue |

| Oh sorry you have fungus issues. I'm dealing with that myself. Always something. But that's the world of fishkeeping.
A shoal of Tetras would be cool. I have 5 Black Neon Tetras and they are nice looking. |

| What are you treating the fungus with?
I keep both neon and cardinal tetras. Although both are very similar in appearance I find the cardinals slightly more colourful. I’m striving for large schools of about 10. But your school would depend on what fish you are planning to return. |

No need to get upset if someone misunderstands you. It's often just a matter of restating things.
If you're not asking what you can put in the tank, perhaps you could clarify what the question is, so we can better answer it. |

| My interpretation: He is going to take some fish back, but he is going to "replace" them right away. He doesn't consider this adding since he will not have more than he started with. |

| Okay Guys I'm Gonna Start Over... Here I Go...My tank is infected with some sort of fungus. We returned the molly which was the one that had fungus, but now there are two other fish with fungus. If i get rid of these two fish...wil my tank still have fungus.....like sayyyy i returned those fish and got an angelfish for instance.. if the angelfish was healthy, would it get fungs too or would the fungus be out of my tank once I removed its host? How do I get it out of my tank is all that I'm trying to say.
Okay we are going to buy some maroxy or marycyn but we don't no if it is colomnaris or true fungus. the cherry barb has like a slimy greyish spot but the platy has white cotton on her mouth. What should I treat it with? Last edited by sirdarksol; March 22nd, 2009 at 08:16 PM.

| I wouldn't take back the fish I would treat the fish with meds for fungus..Jungle makes a very inexpensive fungues tablet that you just drop in the water. That way you know the fungus is out of your tank. Fish usually don't get sick unless there is an outside source or they have been weakened in some way. |

| Well I Feed Them Once A Day Just A Small Pinch And The Waters At About 76 or 77 and The Fish Interact Fine. They Dont Nip or Bite Or Anything
And Does The Jungle Buddies Make it for Columnaris too?
I'm Gonna Try Using PimaFix It Got Good Reviews And Jungle Didn't. Last edited by sirdarksol; March 22nd, 2009 at 08:16 PM.

| Hi Chase, I was reading these and it reminded me that your fish were also showing signs of frayed fins. Thought they might be useful to you: Flexibacter, columnaris columnaris Last edited by Lucy; March 22nd, 2009 at 11:26 AM.

| What are your water parameters, the only time I seem to have fungus problems is when something is way to high or I lost the cycle |

| What are you treating it with? If you read the first link: Quote:
Given time for this disease to spread, the infestations usually begin on the fins, which usually become frayed and ragged.

Further, the conditions that allowed the infection to overwhelm your fish may still be present.
Best to solve the problem first (both by treatment and by identifying the source of the infection). |

| Chase-sorry to hear you are having all this trouble. Listen to the good people from here and you will have your tank good again-i am 63 years old and have learned a lot from people on fishlore lol and i'm still learning. But one thing i know for sure is where you are buying and returning your fish-maybe the fish are not healthy to begin with and that's why you are having all this trouble lol It happened to me at a very reputable LFS. hope this helps you Chase and good luck with tank and fishie's, and try a diff; lfs. bella |
