Which shools the most: Cardinal, Neon, Black Neon or Harlequin Rasbora?

I want a schooling fish that will school closely together. Not scattered. I have a 90 gallon that heavily planted.

Which one, out of these, schools the most and closely always? Cardinal tetras, neon tetras, black neon tetras, or harlequin rasboras? which ever one I choose, I'll buy 8 - 12 of them.

I've had 6 neons before but i remember they tend to scatter off a bit. I want one that will always school together and very closely. This is cause i think it looks better and looks more cool.

If you can think of other types that shools closely together, please tell me.

other fish in the 90 g include tiger barbs, blue gouramis, siamese algae eaters, bristlenose pleco, oto cat, kuhli loach and 1 redtail shark.

Thank you.

Neons would be my number one choice for schooling fish, but judging by your other desired tankmates, they're out of the question.

Otherwise, I would rate the best schooling fish in the order of Cardinal Tetra, Harlequin Rasbora, and then Black Neon Tetras, all of which are more compatible than the neon tetra with your desired redtail shark and tiger barbs

I agree with TFA101, I would list them in the same order as well. Tho IMO the neons and cardinals pretty much school the same way. Very tight and follow each other around...

rummynoses are also very good schoolers. My favorite of the schooling tetras .

I have cardinal tetras, danios and harlequin rasboras in my tank and without a doubt the rasboras are the best schoolers. They are fascinating to watch as they always swim in formation and as soon as one changes direction, the others follow. The danios just race around the tank like lunaticss. The cardinal tetras do school, but they do not stick together as tightly as the rasboras do. I think the rasboras almost swim in a squadron, like you see at an airshow. LOL
