Aggressive Molly?

Okay, i had a bad experience with my first two male sailfin Orange Dalmation mollies and now my dad wont le tme get anymore. The other first two kept nipping at every fish I tried putting in the tank. I wanted a black molly, but instead I got a black swordtail. If I got a single female molly would it be okay(im only wondering I dont really want to get another). Also how come the two males were being aggressive and terriotorial? Was it because they were two males and no females? Thanks Guys

a single female would probably be pregnant when you got her and I dont think you have room for fry with your stock..and swords and mollys ive read, will breed .....

i agree with shawnie on the pregnant thing, and yes molly and swordtails do breed, so probobly not best to get a male and female

All of my Swordtails are Females. There Wouldn't be a problem. But okay what if I got a male. Would he be aggressive?

he should be ok, but they may breed as we said and that would cause your tank to be overstocked. how many have you got in that tank, your info says only 1 female swordtail and 1 male molly

well then you still have the risk of over stocking with Platty x swordtails

ah ok, good to have a back up, although unless you have somewhere for the fry, whcih you will almost definetly have, it is IMO best to have 2 male (they are not usually aggressive)

Well I had two males and they were aggressive with the other fish not with themselves.

They will be fine if they cross breed and it probobly wont be long, usually once they are settled.

in that case no because it would be a platy cross molly perhaps with the colours that give your platy it name. hope that makes sense
