Just Got A Black Swordtail

I just got a female black swordtail in exchange for the platy i lost. But i have a problem. In the tank it was in at the LFS, a lot of the black swordtails had fin rot there. This one looked perfectly healthy but now when i looked at its tail fin its a lil bit frayed. i see no white outline cuz the fin is translucent but is it normal for a new fish to have a lil damage on it?

Why Stress Zyme for possible fin rot?

Chase, it's hard to tell without a pic. Keep his water pristine and some extra Stress Coat, just like you're doing.

Great, that'll help the members determine whether it's fin rot or just nipped fins.

Here's a link about attaching pics.

it's definitely hard to tell, rather than medicating i'd just do at least twice weekly water changes with some stress coat added and see how the fin does. if it starts getting smaller still then i'd consider medicating after two or three weeks.

OHHH..... She was fine this morning but then I noticed that her dorsal fin was not erect as usual. When I got home from school this afternoon I went to check on my fish and everyone but her were fine. She is being lethargic and didn't eat anything. When I put my hand on the glass by her she freaks out and darts to a new hiding place. Her fins look fine. No impurities or discolorations at all, at least that I can see. Do you thinks she's just resting? I don't think its anything serious but this is how the marigold acted before he died. He became lethargic, wouldn't eat, became freaked out if my hand was near him, and then..... he died (By the way I named my fish(The platy is Atticus, the Black Swordtail is Octavious, The Koi Swordtail is Diedric, The Male Cherries are Ghildolf and Henricus, and the female cherry barb is Eramus ))

Now She Came Out Of Hiding When I Added Some Stress Coat. When She Swam Through it It Seemed like She Was coughing Like Her Gestures (I Know It Sounds Crazy But Just Believe Me) Like she swamm backwards in a jerky motion and her mouth kept opening. Then She Started going around the tank lunging at her tankmates (like lunging the way u lunge at a hamburger to eat it) and bit everyone that got in her way. but her dorsal fin is still down. Is she a zombie fish or what? lol
