that's great! i would get a piece of filter media and cover the intake and output of your filter, you don't want them to get sucked in or blown around.

numbers 9 and 10 on this site are what you need for feeding and care

Thats impossible. Neon Tetras are egg layers, there must be a male to fertilize the eggs. If you only had 1 you can't have babies.

Wow, pretty cool. I imagine they'd be very sensitive to their eater conditions also, please be careful.
I've never had baby fish, but I know they sell things like liquid fry food and ummmm, something called first bites, I think

Hopefully someone with more knowledge about feeding fry will see this and be able to answer your question better than I can.

'd with much better advice! lol

Are you sure it wasn't a Guppy? Or another livebearer?

Yeah neons are not live bearers and therefore require a female to lay eggs and a male to come along and fertilize them. Do you have live plants? If so it is possible that you have some additions from the plants, most likely snails.

I think you might have picked up maybe some fry from the store that you didn't notice....or snails? Shrimp?

I'm not saying they aren't there. I'm just saying it's physically impossible to put 1 Neon in a tank and get fry. Whatever they are the Neon can't be the parent.

How many are there? They could be neon fry. I'm thinking that they where hitchhikers Well, all I have to say is congrats, You just got yourself some free fish!

I too was not denying what you said. But simply that a single neon could not produce fry. I offered a question about live plants as a possible source for what you are seeing in your tank. While filling the bag that you brought your neon home in it is also possible that your LFS captured some fry.

You can feed your fry ground up flake food and purified brine shrimp.

Possible that fertilzed egg(S)/fry(S) may hitchhiked. I do not know or heard of Neons being Hermaphrodite(did I spell that right)?

Just the thought of that sent me cracking up for some reason...Possibly from a conversation I had with my friend about the petco people trying to ID the genders of the livebearers... We had decided that, unless the people were being idiots, perhaps they had some hermaphrodite livebearers, so THAT'S why they couldnt tell the gender!

But yeah, crushed up flakes and baby brine shrimp are goo dto feed them. I fed my platy fry a mix of crushed flakes and crisps, plus some tiny bits of freeze dried bloodworms(which are REALLY tough to get into tiny bits, I wouldn't reccomend it lol)
