dragon goby

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had a dragon goby? I have read multiple sites all of which has said that they grow 12" but also read that they can get to be 30". I would like to get one but if they get to big I would not have a tank big enough for him. And since money is a little tight being a slow season for bakerys. Thanks for your help.

They will reach 12" in a regular sized tank for them, but will get larger as the tank is larger. They are also brackish water fish.

I've only heard 12 inches. I had one, but it died. I had a lot of trouble with him. He stuck his head out of the water gulping for air, the water was perfect. He hid a lot, except for at night. They are very interesting fish.

edit: It might have died because my tank is freshwater, but that's what he was in at the store.

cause I am making a 29 gal brackish water tank that houses a f8 puffer. I think the goby would be a good addition to my strange liking of fish that are not your normal community tank fish. would that be a good tank to put him in or should i find something else, cause i could go with a bumble bee goby. but like the dragon better.

They aren't that active, so I thinnk it'd be okay in a 29 gal.

We transferred our goby from a 10 gallon to a 47 gallon, vertical tank. (We were aquarium novices and didn't do proper research first about size.)

Anyway, he's been really active since he moved. I always wondered if that was abnormal behavior for a goby. He treads water on and off throughout the day, up and down, and swims all over the tank.

Has anyone experienced a really active goby?
