Babies!!

Well, today started out kind've rough. I lost another neon tetra. I officially give up on those guys - from now, if they die, that's it, I'm not replacing them.

Last weekend, I added 13 shrimp to the 10gal, as it had finally cycled. There was a single survivor from a group of five I'd put in before the tank was cycled, so that made 14. Over the first few days of the week, 5 of them kicked the bucket, but the rest of them have been okay.

I decided today to plant the tank, so they'd have a constant food source, and since plants help keep nitrate low. So I yanked up all the fake plants, and placed the real ones. In the process, I stirred up a baby platy that's been swimming around in there for about a week now. The crazy part is that both the big platys I have are girls, so they must have been pregnant way back when I got them.

Alright, so I get the tank set up, and Jr.'s checking things out, so I decide to snap a few photos of him...

While I'm clicking away, I notice something VERY tiny dart past... After squiting around for a few minutes, I find it...

Baby shrimp!

But that's not all! While taking shots of the shrimp, I come to find out that there are two baby platys swimming around! And, while following them around, I find a ton of more baby shrimp! Awesome!

Wow they are pretty cute, all eyes. Hope they survive the shrip as someone mentioned they occasionally nip on fish. Very good photo's and glad to see you had some good news to offset the bad, congrats dad.

I watched one of the baby shrimp get eaten by one of my adult platys...

But, just a second ago I saw that there are at least three baby platys!
