Changing Filters

My Whisper 30 isn't whispering anymore although it is still operational. I have an Aqua Clear 50 I can use if necessary. If I decide to do that should I put the foam and bio max in a corner of the tank and let it sit for a couple of weeks?

I don't have a place to put it running concurrently without chopping up the hood or I would run 2 filters for a while.

Thanks,

Mike

you can probably fit the media for the aquaclear in the whisper or vice versa, mine usually have a lot of room leftover for extra media

I would order the part that are needed now, impeller probubly and keep using it until it arrives. So what if you have to cut a slot in the plastic hood with a hacksaw blade to fit the "50" concurrently, you probubly should anyway if its otherwise not being used for just these type emergencies, a cleaner tank and larger bio load capacity. You can use aluminum tape from the hardware store to create a door hinge for the plastic cut out parts, I did. However if that is not an option your aquarium ornamentals and gravel should contain enough cycle bacteria to handle the filter shift. But like recommended if necessary just squeeze wash the filters in a bucket of aquarium water and install them into the 50 filter reservoir.

Thanks for the answers. It turned out to be a silly question. Once I opened the filter box I could see there was plenty of room for using some old material with the new. I suspect everything will be fine. There's a lot more water flow going from a Whisper 30 to an Aqua Clear 50 in a 29g tank.
