Orange stuff on rocks

Ok this might sounds stupid but When i was buying these rocks ( little white ones) this old ladie told my dont buy them because they turn blue...

dont know if theres any truth to that but some spots in my tank are turning orange. Not alot, just in some areas.

My first guess was overfeeding, but I know now that im feeding my fish just fine. I did have a fish die because it was store purchased and it was sick.

but other than that im not sure. Can anyone help? And if you have any ideas, how do i get rid of it?

I have just been scooping the rocks out and disposing of them

Thanks guys

Can you get a picture? And are we talking about like little pebbles for decoration, or a bunch of gravel. My guess would just be algae...

if it is diatoms. Ive done some research and it said a couple otto's would fix the problem.

Anyone send me a picture of what exactly diatoms looks like?

Its only a little bit on the gravel, not the glass.

the best thing for diatoms is to just wait them out, you can scrub them off every once in a while, but after a few months they will go away. generally diatoms occur in new tanks but will eventually go away on their own
