Hi Guys

take care.
Steven

Btw all told my tank has been running for 2 weeks and 2 days. 1 week fishless and 9 days with fish.

Welcome to Fish Lore

It would help the members if you could fill in your aquarium into. You can find it under settings at the top of the page.

Is there any certain fish you're interested in? You might want to make a list of them and see what the members have to say about them.

Good luck finishing up the cycle.

I would highly recommend purchasing your own liquid test kit, and test the water for yourself. (Fish stores are notorious for telling people to buy fish from them and then put them into an uncycled tank.) It is highly unlikely that your tank is cycled after 9 days of having fish in it. (Just running the filter without having an ammonia source does nothing to cycle the tank).

To be fully cycled you need to have zero ammonia, zero nitrites and some nitrates. So unless your water parameters meet that criteia, it would not be a good idea to add anymore fish.

Welcome!!!!!
I agree with jdhef. The Zebras are wonderful fish to get the cycle going since they are very hardy, not to mention they look great. I would not add any more fish until the tank has cycled. After that, it's really up to your personal preference as far as fish, but add them a few at a time over a couple week period. I always like neon or cardinal tetras, they look great in a school. Swordtails are my favorite though!!! It really depends on what you would like.

Good luck and have fun.

Well if you feel comfortable having someone else be in the know on your aquariums condition your all set. But I personally would want to have control of my own testing 24/7 so I could take the appropriate action necessary to save on such a big investment of fish and time.
There are also services available in most metropolitan areas where you can have someone take total care of your aquarium for you for a nominal fee, about $30-50 a month I think which in your case may turn out to be cost effective.

To answer your question, I have always liked schooling fish, how about putting in some Neons with those zebras, they make a good combo long term or short.

But the key here is to take it slow as suggested especially since you have come this far so well. Allow time to get the numbers right and good bacteria to grow before adding too many fish too quickly. Since you have a LFS guy you can trust, just work with him often or at the first sign of trouble as new aquariums can crash faster then it takes to eat a large meal.
