| The new setup, with some new additions to the family! As some of you may recall, a few weeks ago I told you guys about my aquarium makeover. I have finally gotten around to taking some pics for you. I have also put the second filter back on as it turned out that the filter impeller wasn't seated correctly. It is nice and quite again. Anyway, Im pretty excited to show you the tank. So here goes. Hope you like it. BTW- yes I know that I am technically overstocked, but I am VERY good on my upkeep and have way overkill on filtration. When they get too big, ------> haha JK- they will go back to the LFS.
First my new guys! |

| What all is in the tank? Looks like you might have some incompatible species but I can be for sure. |

| KyWildFish - thanks for your reply. everybody is getting along just fine. the newcomers and original inhabitants are living very harmoniously. i understand what you are saying but i feel nothing is absolutely written in stone. i would never put an oscar in there (lol) but the parrots, gouramis, loaches, redtail sharks, danios, pineapple swordtails and pleco all seem to enjoy each others company. they truly are new yorkers in a community tank |

Your fish are very pretty, though. You take good pictures
Edit: Are you sure that is a redtail shark? I though only their tail was red, and yours has red fins, too. |

I really don't mind raising them and giving them to the LFS as adults. I am talking my wife into a 100-150 gallon in the upcomgin months so it may just be a moot point soon. ;-) Thanks for you compliments. yes, they are red tail sharkes. As I understand, the red tail sharks have red fins too. |

I think there is another sort of shark that does, but I can't remember what they are called. |

| Rainbow Sharks have red fins also.
It's odd to see a parrot that small have such vivid coloring, mine is much larger & just starting to turn from brown to red. |

| nice looking setup! im really diggin the white substrate.
i dont see any harm in the LFS trade out when they are grow up, almost like being a foster parent lol. i cant grasp how you 'detach' yourself from them tho, but to each their own. |

| did you check with your LFS to make sure they would take back a full-grown clown loach? they get pretty huge and normally LFS only take juvies |

Are you sure your Parrots aren't dyed? They look very bright (normal ones are more orangey), even red!
You have excellent fish photography skills BTW - I wish I could get a clear close up shot of my fishies! |

| Great looking tank. I love the white substrate with the blue background. Really helps the fish stand out. Another reason I like your tank is it isn't to "busy". Its real clean and crisp. I like to keep mine somewhat simple as well. To many people fill their tank with so many plants and things that you almost have to hunt around to find the fish. JMHO of course. :-) |

| Wow, very documentary style photo's, excellent!
I don't think there is a juvenile pet I have ever owned I was not sure I would keep although I was always committed to placing them in a good home free if necessary. Notwithstanding good intentions, in the end we all succumb to our environment as even the earth is one big inverted aquarium. |

They Will. This fish store is not your average LFS. He is practically a marine biologist. They make custom tanks there too. They have a 400 gallon tank there with all sorts of beauties. |

Actually- now that I look more closely- in the pics, the color is more vivd than in real life. They are indeed a lighter shade- in the orange family. I would not think that the guy I bought them from would purchase dyed ones. he is just not that kind of guy I think. Last edited by Freshwater Fan; February 17th, 2009 at 12:43 PM.

Who knows when the time comes though. I too may be too attatched to them. I may just get a larger tank and convert my 55 into a house for a pair of oscars for the foyer. ;-) |
