Gouramis? Tank?

Ok, my tank is quite plain at the moment. I have riverbed rocks covering the bottom. I have some plastic plants in it and I have one of the little hiding places you can find at pet stores. I would like some help to figure out what type of plants and type of hiding places that would go well with my tank. Should I just put rock in the tank? What color should the plants be? I know that is a stupid question. But in my little 10 gallon tank I have black gravel and there used to be some colorful plants in it. Those plants are now in my new tank. It does not look as cool with the riverbed rocks though. Should I just get some regular green plants? When we had our 55 gallon cichlid tank we had so broken flower pots in the tank and some rocks. SHouls I take those and put them in my new tank? There will be plenty of hiding spots when I'm done with it but I don't know exactly what I want yet. This is kinda off topic but my heater is not sticking to the side of the tank like it should be. Is there a way that can be fixed or is it just going to stay that way? And for the plants situation again. Should they be tall or pretty short? Should they be spread out or should they be bunched up in the back? I am thinking about getting gouramis. How big does the tank have to be for them? What do they require for food? Are they aggressive? Basically I need a lot of information about them. I really hope someone will post back to this! It would be extremely helpful.

XX-hi; plants are a personal choice and you can do some research at plant geeks .com. And do some reasearch on your gouramis-as i am not familuar with them-but someone will come along shortly to help you. And as far as your heater goe' your can purchase suction cups at your LFS. to hold your heater on, i think a few dollar's for a package hope this help's, and welcome to fl. bella

There are many types of gouramis. They are like bettas, and are usually aggressive towards their own kind. So one gourami per tank is recommended.

It depends on what atype of tank you're looking to have.

Like already said it depends on what gourami's your after.

If you want blue gourami's I know a thing or two.

Their agressive toward each other, but not in other species genrally.

I have a 60 gal tank which is just big enough for two.

I have almost 30 other fish in the tank that they do not bother, including.

platies
Swordtails
Cory cats
Bosemans rainbows
and some tetra's

It's difficult to aquascape someone's tank if you don't have a pic, so I won't touch on that.

Along the lines of gouramis: they arw a very varied group of Labyrinth fish (fish that have an organ that they can use to take oxygene from our air) that are popular in aquaria. Their temperment is highly debated among aquarists - it is best to keep either a male with 2 females or a male alone. They come in all sizes, from 6-70cm! For a 10gal, you could have Dwarf gouramis, Honey gouramis or Sparkling gouramis.
