| They need a very wide tank, but it can be shallow. Good filtration is important. They like having a bit of current.
They'll eat all sorts of meaty foods. The Duluth aquarium primarily feeds their stingrays shrimp (the rays don't have teeth, so the caretaker feeds them by hand). If they are likely to be interacted with (if you are going to get them used to hand-feeding), you may want to consider having their barbs removed by a specialty vet. Stings generally not lethal, but they are extremely painful.
Edit: PinkFloydPuffer's got another important point. Substrate is a big deal. Because they skim the bottom, they can get scraped up on sharp gravel or even sharp sand. The Duluth aquarium uses rounded gravel. Others use "soft" sand (like pool filter sand) or even a silty substrate, like EcoComplete. Last edited by sirdarksol; February 14th, 2009 at 08:45 PM.
