OMG lol that startled me when I read it. You mean like the Tiger Sharks on Shark Week on the discovery Channel? I jump a mile when one of my angels bites me lol. I thought they get to like 4 or 5 feet. Whatever though 2 feet is plenty to scare me.

It depends on the species. Some of them get to be HUGE. I think they're up there with catfish as far as biggest freshwater fish go. The silver ones are the best for aquaria, I think, because they generally cap out at 2' in captivity (though this may be due to undersized aquaria, which would be bad for the fish), or 3' in the wild.

25 or so years ago, I got an arrowana that was about the size of 1/2 of a pencil. Put him in a 120 gal tank. Fed him brine shrimp when he was small and feeders ( I didn't know any better back then) later when he got bigger, which was not very long after. With in a couple of years this dude got to be 28 inches long and had scales the size of a silver dollar...............Unfortunately one morning I got up and found the whole lid and light on the floor as well as my arrowana dead. Never once did he attack me when I stuck my hand in the tank. I would love to have one again but I'm not into the whole live feeding thing anymore.

The light and Arowana in the floor thing happens quite often. They are jumpers (will jump several feet in the air for bugs flying over in the wild) and quite strong. My friends Arowana broke several glass tops and wound up on the floor dead. He had knocked glass tops, hood and several large bricks off during the night. He was in their shop so nobody heard him jump. He was in a 250g tank. Was very sad, He was really tame and would eat from our fingers.

The jumping thing makes me afraid to walk past the Amazon River exhibit at the Como Zoo. I'm always worried I'm going to get a couple hundred pounds of fish dropped on my head. There is about five inches between the top of the water and the top of the glass. The entire thing is open beyond that.
