Hiya all, really quite new to this, i have some convicts one of which has a really large swollen belly she looks fit to burst, how can i tell for sure? How long before she lays her eggs? what the **** do i do then lol? thnak-you if you can find time to reply...mind you i bet i cant find this forum again this site is massive really glad i found it for support.....

I would wait saying that your fry arent going to be alot of hard work it's going to be hardwork for the parents of the fry but not for you!

its not hard work unless you have other fish in there..the parents do it all and do it well

I agree cichlids are the best parents in the fish world.

You should be fine the convicts will clam there territory for the fry & they wont let anything enter that area, once that happens your other fish wont even dare to come close, i'd be careful with your pelco he just might wonder in there with out wanting to but they will chase him off.

Just to make you feel better I had convicts along time ago and they had fry 2 different time in a cichlid community tank,all said and done I ended up with about 30 baby convicts.
