i disagree, keeping three goldfish in a 10 gallon IMO is pretty cruel. i wouldn't necessarily hold someone accountable for it if they didn't know any better and fixed the issue by either rehoming/returning/buying a new tank for them. when the growth of a goldfish is stunted like that, the body stops growing, but the organs dont. keeping them in a tank that is too small can lead to disfiguration, and can significantly shorten their lifespan. goldies can live up to 15 years, but when kept improperly have much shorter lives than that.

Cruel?? There are people out there that are actually mean to animals and this is not one of them.

This is a person asking for advice on how best to take care of their pets. The mere fact that they're asking for advice shows they care. Granted, this may be a case of a person asking for advice to justify something they plan to do anyway but come on lets not get carried away with calling a person names with very little provocation. It is probably best to be especially carefull if we don't even know the person we are slinging names at.

How about the people at the county fair that give a gold fish to any kid that can toss a ping pong ball into a fish bowl? I bet 99.9% of those goldfish live the rest of their lives in that cup because of course the kid has nowhere else to put the fish. I was in a Petsmart when one of those guys came in and bought every feeder goldfish they had and wanted to know when they were getting more in. If zodiac007 is "cruel" and "mean" what would you call these people?

Keep in mind too that these three fish were saved from being actually used as feeder fish and given the choice I'm sure they would prefer the life they've had.

Zodiac007 asked a question and I believe enough suggestions have been made for them to make a decision.
We can only give suggestions/opinions. Ultimately it's up to the each individual how they choose to keep their fish.

After this post this thread will be closed.
