Dechlorination

What is the best dechlorination product? How does this work when changing water? The systems that hook right to the sink do not seem to take this into account or am I missing something?

I personally use prime as a dechlorination agent. When putting water back into the tank with a hose I just pour the Prime into the stream of water. Never had a problem since it is an instant dechlor.

I use Prime as Stress Coat Plus also ads Aloe Vera which I choose not to add to my tank during every water change, but that is strickly a personal choice as both products are very good.

If you are filling your tank from a 5 gallon bucket then Prime suggests only treating the water you are adding (5 gallons) in the bucket. However I do use a Phython (the sink system), in this case Prime suggests that you treat the entive tank (in my case 35 gallons).

I do not know what Stress Coat Plus suggests.

if just using stress coat as a water conditioner, you use 5mls per ten gal and you add according to the total tank size not the water added...and if you are trying to use it as a healer for fins or other issues, 10ml's per 10 gals of water..stress coat+ adds more than just aloe, which replenishes slime coat which acts as a defense against invasion by bacterial, parasitic, and fungal diseases...it also helps reduce electrolyte loss which happens when fish discrete urine and poo even if not sick...its almost like a calcium boost for them as far as the electrolyte loss...so a type of fish vitamin per say LOL ... prime works great also but doesnt have the added vitamin that the stress coat does..and its totally a personal choice for sure...

I do the same as the above posters...I use Stress Coat Plus, and just pour it into the stream of water. It seems to work great. I didn't use to treat the whole tank when doing water changes just what I added...But I've recently learned that if your using a python or similar product you do need to treat the whole tank.

i use prime and have used stress coat + before, both are great and both do the same thing, so it's really a matter of what's cheaper at your LFS or what they have more readily available
