Stand is not level

My stand is not completely level for my 29gal. Its slightly (1/4 inch over the span of a 30 inch tank) is this a problem?

I’m not understanding your question. Is your stand not level or is your stand just slightly larger then your aquarium?

If you stand is not level that would certainly concern me. If your stand is slightly longer then your tank it should be OK.

my stand is not completely level. i played around with some shims and got it as close as its gonna get. one side is about 1/8 inch taller than the other.

I would be slightly concerned having a tank off balance as they are so top heavy. But as you have shimmed the stand as best that you can it sounds as though it’s as good as it can be. It is highly unlikely that the tank would tip by a mere 1/8” lean on its own. But I so would not want to bump the stand.

I currently have a metal frame stand for my 35g and it terrifies me. Almost 400lbs. resting atop such a small structure gives me nightmares. My next investment will certainly be a wood aquarium stand with a large footprint.

I'd feel far better with a stand like yours. My tank sits on four 1/4" legs... wow I should go to the LFS for a new stand.

If I had a stand such as yours I would not loose any sleep over an 1/8".

THIS FORUM IS GETTING REALLY EXPENSIVE!!! The more time I spend here the more money it cost me. OK I'm off to buy a new stand. DOH!

hahah well...if you're looking for a cost effective solution, i built my stand. cost me 20 bucks...including paint. <http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/DIY-do-yourself/35646-building-stand-29g.html> here's the link to the thread. you can easily modify the number of vertical supports, and use 4x4s on the corners for increased strength

i used 3 4" wood screws to secure each joint as well as steel corner braces and steel T braces

if you are concerned, you could possibly wedge a small piece of plywood or something in to make it level?
