Yesterday morning (8a.m.-1p.m.) my molly fish had 3 babies. They are all doing good, but my molly is not so great. since last night she has stayed in one spot on the ground and is still alive, but not moving. Help!?

Welcome to Fish Lore

Congrats on the babies, but I'm sorry momma isn't feeling well.

Is this the 10g tank? How many of each kind of fish are in the tank? What are your readings for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

Yes, it is, we have 5 guppies, 3 mollies, 2 neon tetra and a cory catfish. We are planning on getting a bigger tank soon too, because theres way to many fish there. But I don't think that it is because she is to stressed, because the water is clean, all the other fish are acting perfectly fine, and we've had her for about a month now. We bought her when she was pregnant from a local fish store. How do I test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates??

I'm glad to hear you're getting a bigger tank.

You should look into getting a test kit. The API master kit is highly recommended. A little pricey but more accurate than the strips and less costly in the long run.

When ever fish start acting weird the first thing to do is rule out water problems. If you have excess ammonia or nitrites both are toxic to fish. The water could still be perfectly clear.
The only way to detect them are to test for them.

I could be off, I don't have live bearers. The members of the forum have a wide range of knowledge so hopefully others will be able to help you further.

Good luck.

Ok, well my dad is taking me to an aquatic store now, so I'll probably get the water tests there. Thanks!

Unfortunately, my molly died but when cleaning the gravel I discovered another baby!! I think it is from one of my black mollies, but I'm not sure yet.

Hey and welcome.

I have a bit of experience with live bearing fish and would be glad to offer my opinions on the late female.
First of all its not uncommon for a live bearing fish to show signs of stress while dropping fry. My last adult female still hovers around the bottom and gets flushed in her gills. I have lost another female to child birth. She looked to have a baby stuck in the birth canal and likely it was the cause of her demise.
As for the dark fry, it could be a black one or might be white. I have all white silver mollies and occasionally they will have darker colored fry that will turn white as they grow.
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask and welcome to fishlore!
