Chase J's cycling question

How Do I KEep The Tank Back In Track Ive Been Doing 50% changes Alot Now and it hasnt done a thing I started to add ammo lock (it just detoxifies ammonia but the bacteria still eat it) and my nitrates are at zero (meaning there are no bacteria) and all my fish hate me. Oh and by the way i cannot tanke the para fish back i already asked ( i wanted to replace it with a betta but he said no to both)

I moved this question out of Red's Paradise Fish thread to a thread of it's own.
Ammo lock doesn't detoxify the ammonia. It locks it up and starves the bacteria.
You were advised to to daily water changes and use Prime to detox the ammonia.

I agree with Lucy. Ammo lock is hurting your cycle badly. Use Prime and daily 50% water changes and you'll get there. It can take a long time when you are trying to cycle with fish but hang in there. Your fish will thank you and then you can start enjoying your tank.

Chase, just listen to people like Lucy who knows what they are talking about. They are trying to help your endless 3 month cycle finally end.

chase..it takes weeks to cycle a tank with fish and the daily water changes are the only way ..with alot of patience that is

no matter how many threads you start, it will be the same answers

alot of us have been down this road and its not fun but its necessary for the life of the fishies

Haha, endless 3 month cycle sounds familiar. Almost 4 months, and my 30g is still not quite there. But I would have lost many more fish than I have if it weren't for the advice of the people on this forum. They know what they're talking about, and they want to help you to make good decisions and enjoy your fish.

I understand your frustration, but asking questions when you know the answer already makes your task harder. It's not so hard to do a quick water change every day, nor is it hard to add a water conditioner that detoxifies ammonia without starving bacteria (Prime and Stress Coat+ are both good). Your fish will hold up better if you follow these steps.

Don't feel bad, I did it fishless and didn't work with pure ammonia, so just never know. Cycling is just a total pain, period. Hoping SafeStart works.

Well The Bottle Says That It Just Detoxifies The Ammonia Not Locks It It Says That It Leaves It Available For The Bacteria.

Ill Try The 50s Every Day Though
