is this bullying or Mating?

Hi,

I added another Black Moor to my tank, as TiCks looked so down after the death of my Ranchu.

Every thing was going swimmingly until last night when I noticed that new ones Dorsal Fin is ripped it also has a hole in it, and this morning TiCks was constantly chasing and pushing new one into the plant.

Now this evening they are just ignoring each other, there is no chasing and they fed without any problems.

If you have any thoughts Ill be interested.

Thanks

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful regarding your stocking options. But I will suggest dividing the tank for a while to protect the victim. Also you could try re-arranging your tank. This often has the effect of mellowing fish out while they adjust to their new surroundings and tank mates. Hiding places is also very important. Often when fish can stay out of each others sight they can ignore each other (enough).

Hope this is of some help and best of luck!

Hi ninni:

I believe you have a tank too small for even one Black Moor. Lack of space is likely to turn TiCks aggressive. Hope you are able to upgrade to a 40gal so you can keep two (please confirm my suggestion, I am no expert in Black Moors, my experience with them was in a pond back in the 1980s, so I'm more likely than not, outdated).

Cute odd-looking fish! I recall mines used to eat from my hands, not shy at all with me.
