Sorry... Another Question- Ich?

Good Evening from the UK.

I woke this morning to find that two of the danio's have little white spots on their fins. Now i am guessing that this will be ICH.

I have read a few posts about Ich and i understand that i have got to slowly get the heat up in the aquarium.

Will Danio's be ok if i put the temo up to 29c/84f?

My water readings are:

ammonia= 0
nitrite= 0
nitrate= 5.0-10.0

Did a 25% water change yesterday and conditioned with prime. Been feeding them a small pinch twice a day, which gets devoured in about 30 seconds.

Is there anything else i should be doing?

Don't be sorry about asking questions.
If the white spots look like grains of salt, it's ich.

The danios will be ok.
Leave the temp elevated for at least 2 weeks. Increase aeration to make up for the lack of oxygen in the warmer water.
Do a good gravel vac to get rid of all the ich spores.

Thanks Lucy.

Should I be changing the water more than normal?

Your welcome
Just your regular water changes should be fine.

My Zebra Danios (Long finned, Glofish, Red, Golden) took 30C without showing any distress (tank temp in August 2008).

Leaving the temp up for a couple of weeks should suffice if your ick infestation is mild.

However, if you suspect a moderate to severe infestation, huge daily water changes and thorough substrate vacuum could be needed. Hope it's not your case since doing this would likely jeopardize your cycle.

Please look for pics of fish with ick to confirm if yours indeed have this or not.

If you reach 30C, consider increasing aeration with added water surface agitation (e.g. take 2cm of water height off your tank if you have a HOB filter so its output splashes it harder or simply add airstones or a bubble wand) since dissolved oxygen levels drop dangerously as temp reaches 30C.
