Guppy loves platy?

Hey
Just curious if anyone understands this behaviour -
I've noticed my red cobra guppy has taken to following around my female platy, who is half red/half orange, and doing little waggly displays at her trying to get her attention. They don't seem to be aggressive displays, he isn't nipping or chasing her, just following her like a puppy and waggling sideways - in a curve with his side facing her and head and fins facing away when she looks.
Is this like a courtship display?
I feel sorry for him if it is lol because he seems to be trying his very hardest and is getting no reaction.
Maybe he needs a girlfriend

Guppies and Platys can't mate, although this won't stop them trying. Guppies can only crossbreed with Mollies, while Platys can only crossbreed with Swordtails.
