90g tank

I'm going to be getting a 90g tank and will be putting Harlequin rasboras, neon tetras, cardinal tetras and tigers barbs in the tank, I know that those fish are schooling fish and was wondering how many of each I should put in, also any other suggestions on what fish i could stock my tank with would be great. I'll be using live plants and will have ghost shrimp and some bottom feeders for a clean up crew (any suggestions for a good bottom feeder would be great) thanks

Mathas (another member) has a similar set-up. So hopefully he'll be along soon with some suggestions.

Tiger Barbs can be a bit nippy if not kept in a big enough shoal, usually 8 or more. With shoaling fish you should have at least 6 of each species. Although in a 90gal tank you could have a lot more obviously. As for tankmates the list is endless, Tetras, Danios, Gouramis, Dwarf Cichlids, Platys, Guppies, pretty much any of the peaceful community fish will do great in a 90gal. As for bottom feeders, Otos, Corys, Kuhli Loaches or BN Plecos will all be fine.

About the only thing I'd add is that you might want to reconsider the ghost shrimp/tiger barb combination:

ghost shrimp and tiger barb
Ghost Shrimp

Other than that, Nick Goody's advice pretty much hit the nail on the head. Stick with at least six (preferably more) of each shoaling species, and they should do just fine.

Both answers will depend on which bottom feeders you want.

Have you made that decision yet?

Since you have such a big tank. Have you considered the viewing distance of your tank? Do you sit in a chair up close. Then small fish in schools are great.
Do you sit back on a couch across the room? Then you might want a fish or two as a center piece. Something you can see from a distance.
This is something I had to think about, when the movie is boring. . .my eyes wander over to the tank. Ahhh nice relaxing fish tank where I can see discus and schools of rummynose and cardinals. . .just something to think about. : )
