Going out of town for the weekend, lights on?

This is more a curiousity question than anything.

I'm heading out of town for the weekend.

What would happen if leave the lights on, or off for the weekend?

I know I can buy a timer at the hardware store, and I just might, but is it okay to leave the lights on or off for the weekend? I have plants in my tank which makes me want to leave the lights on.

I would leave the lights off if it was just fish. But, I think a timer is the best bet.
Who's going to be feeding the fish?

I'm leaving Friday and coming back Sunday. I'll feed them before I leave Friday and when I come back Sunday night.

I agree
no plants no problem, no lights
feed a touch heavier, but gone 2 days max, should be no problem at all.

If it's over the weekend, plants will be ok if you leave the lights off. I think it'd be easier to give the plants a little tlc when you get back then deal with a huge algae bloom.

I would leave them off.

Would the tank lights be the only source of light? If there is light coming in from a window or the rest of the house, then you could leave the tank lights off. The plants would just think it was a cloudy day.
