I have a 29 gallon tank that is 2.5 months old. It is cycled, amonia 0, nitrites 0, and nitrates 10. The temp is 79 degrees. There are 5 guppies, 3 zebra danios, one sunset dwarf gourami, one longfin albino bushynose pleco, and 6 tiny guppy fry that are in a breeder box nursery.
I do a 25%
water change once a week, change my filter once a month(I have two filters, so I rotate them so I can keep the beneficial bacteria.)
I feed them tetra crisps, and every 3 days bloodworms.
I was checking on my fish as I do several times a day because I love to watch them, when I noticed something near the top of the water that might have been a dead fish. I got very worried, but then I realized that it was not a fish at all. I have four (at least) snails climbing in all parts of the aquarium walls! I never bought a snail! I did put in some java grass about 2 weeks ago. could there have been some hitchhikers in the java grass? If so, why would they have waited this long to appear? And finally, should I remove them, or are they beneficial? I will try to get a pic so you can see what they look like! They are brown shelled snails.
Please help, because I cannot figure where else they would have come from!
