Inches per Gallon. Inches per Week ?

I am aware of the "1 inch of fish per gallon of water" rule. When it comes to adding fish to my tank is there a "x inches of fish per gallon per week" rule ?

In your 10 gallon tank you got 7 fish and a snail. bio-load seems high to me.

I think a good rule is to add 2 or three fish at a time, and then 2 weeks before any more. That way the bacteria get a chance to catch up to the new bio-load and you can QT the next set of fish while you wait.

It depends what fish you're adding. I would add Neons or Zebra Danios 6 at a time no probs. Platys/Mollys maybe 2 at a time. Something like a Pleco or Large Cichlid, just one.

Are you figuring per inch or per bio-load ? How big is your tank ?

Bio-Load. Shoaling fish like to shoal. So I wouldn't add 2, wait 2 weeks, add 2 and so on. 6 Neons or similar have a small bio-load and will feel far less stressed being added all together. On the other hand if I already had some then I'd add 2 at a time as they already have a shoal to join.
