Colorful sculptures

I want to add some sculptures that are found in LFS. Most of them have some sort of paint on it. Would that paint harm the fish i already have?

I hope that if the sculptures are being sold at the LFS they would be aquarium safe but I can certainly understand your concerns. Chances are any coloured paint has been baked on. If you want to check the sculptures I would suggest letting them soak for a week or two in tank water. If you are able to rub off any of the colour I wouldn’t use them.

I have heard people using sculptures purchased from dollar stores that did fall apart in their aquariums. But again if you are purchasing these from a LFS I would like to believe they would only be selling aquarium safe products.

as Dozey said, They are most likely safe enough - there is nothing to suggest otherwise - sure some paints and dyes are toxic, but there are plenty that are not.

It's a pretty safe bet I'd think.

But if in doubt just ask.

No they were not that colorful. If i remember it correctly there were couple of castles, and a pirate chest.

Hey she said "colorful" sculptures right? :P

Next time you visit check the tags. Some should said "aquarium Safe" or "Non-Toxic"
