Stupid Question-- Can I...

Hello everyone, I just recently bought a few silk plants to put into Adonis' tank. Would it be ok if I just stuck my hand into the water to put them in? I know it's probably such an obvious question, but I'm worried if my skin has some oils that would hurt him. Thanks!

unless you have very very recently washed your hands with soap and didn't rinse them very, very well, it shouldn't be a problem

welcome to fishlore!

Just make sure your hands don't have any soaps, lotions or anything else that could be toxic to your fish and you'll be fine.

You will also want to wash your hands after being in the tank water. Um part of fish keeping is being constantly up to your arm pit in aquarium water.

I will second the wet arm pits, when doing my tank maint on my 55 gal. I can never seem to get the glass clean were the substrate meets the glass with my long handled scrubber, so I have to do it by hand.

I don't know about you guys but I have very long arms!!! Not a problem with my 55. Make sure you're clean of handcreams and perfumes.

I'm going to have a heck of a time cleaning my new 80 gal! It has the footprint of a 55g, but it's taller. Luckily I am a very tall person myself

Lol, I'm just shy of 6', so I'm hoping I'll be okay with my big tank... I'll probably have to tie my hair back though

Unless some Italian guy with a bent nose, carrying a violin case tells you that you will be sleeping with the fishes!
