Sexing blue ram

Hello, please help me sex this blue ram.

I initially bought a pair. One became weak and was picked on, then passed away. The same thing happened when I tried to buy a replacement. Is this little one destined to be alone, or should I try again to find him/her a buddy?

I would guess female, but I don't know if that is right or not. Females have more of a pink belly and the 'sheen' shows through their black spots.

Hi Fionah
Its hard to tell in the photos but looking at the dorsal fin it appears to be a female. If we had a close up, it may help more. But my guess is that it is a female. I had ended up with a lone GBR myself and it lived for over a year and a half by itself in the 55g tank. I always felt bad for it, but just could no longer find a mate for it. ( it was a male). So I gave up trying to find another female.
It was fine by itself tho... So if you are loosing other rams due to this ones aggression, I would say IMO it would be fine to live its life out with no other of its own species. What size tank is it in, and what other tankmates are in there?
