It would depend on what size tank. To be a community fish, a RTBS needs to be in a 55 gallon tank. I'm not expert, but I'd say the tank would need to be even larger to keep a pleco as well, or else the pleco will probably be harassed.

Most pleco species need a tank at least a 55-75g unless you go with a bushynose species or fancy types of plecos. With the red tail shark being territorial I would not mix one with a pleco.

We had a rainbow shark and a clown pleco. They appeared to get along fine, as they were the same size ( 2"). However, we did make the error of putting them in a 35g tank, not aware that the shark needed atleast a 55g. We gave our shark to someone with a 150g tank.
The clown pleco would chase the shark out of the cave, but otherwise, they were fine together.

No way would a RTS harass a Pleco. My Pleco lives with 2 Oscars and even they don't mess with him.

Welcome to FishLore finfan18

You should start your own thread as your question may very well be overlooked being mixed in to another person’s question.

I would agree agree with this. But "most" plecos will not live well in your 29 gallon tank. There are a couple smaller plecos that will work for you but most common pleco can grow up to 18" in length and require far larger tanks.

EDIT: Might be confusing...
I don't mean navyscuba's 50/55 gallon tanks but I am referring to finfan18's tank.

I agree but... (you knew there was one ) because the pleco is such a waste producer and many get large they need a large tank. I think that would be more of an issue than tank mates.

How big is the tank? What kind of barbs and how many and what kind of pleco?

If they're Tiger barbs, they need to be kept in large tanks in a good sized school of at least 6 and preferably more. If kept in small numbers in smaller tanks, they will definitely attack slowing moving, smaller or large finned fish.
