platys stuck to filter pump

i woke up this morning and 1 of my platys was stuck to the filter pump. the pole like thing that goes down in the water. he was dead and seemed to be bruised on the side he was stuck. has anyone ever seen this before? thanxxxx

It's a relatively common ocurrance with dead fish. When they die, the body often drifts around the tank with the current, and any type of suction, such as that generated by the filter, is enough to trap the body.

The bruising was likely also caused by that suction... without the heart beating, the blood can't circulate, and normally settles in one spot. If the body was against a source of suction, it would seem logical that the blood would settle at the suction point, hence the bruising you saw.
