A miracle happened!

Well, when I bought my first fish, it seemed fine. When I bought my second fish a week later, the fish was still fine. And the other was fine too. It has been a while since then, and they are still living! I set up my tank two days before I got my first fish. Can any of you tell me why this happened? Thanks for the help.

My guess is since you only have 2 fish in 20g's of water the ammonia hasn't had a chance to build enough to show outward symptoms. However, that doesn't mean they're not being harmed by it.

With your readings it would be a good idea to start doing daily water changes until the cycle is complete.

Agreed, this just happened to me after having the fish for 4 Months! Its a horrible feeling, but now that i'm starting over im doing it right, i'm completely re-doing my tank so that maintenance will be more effective, and that it will be a better environment for them.
