Bloated Fish

I am trying to get some help about a fish of mine that is severely bloated....one side of it is puffed out more than the other so much that the fish's scales are protruding. It looks excessively pregnant, but someone mentioned something about egg binding ..... I was wondering if anyone was familiar with what exactly that is

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I don't know anything about egg binding, but whenever my fish get bloated, I feed them peas. If you have a bag of frozen peas, take one out, shell it, and thaw it. Then, cut it into little pieces to feed to your fish. Remember that a fish's stomach is the size of it's eye.

Oh, I just read over your post again. I didn't see that her scales are sticking up. If so, it may be dropsy Once their scales are sticking up, it may be too late.. I've lost two fish to dropsy. Dropsy itself is not a disease, but a symptom of an underlying problem. I don't know much about it myself, someone else may be able to help you more.

Still, try the peas, and maybe do a water change. What are your parameters?

Minnow's right about the peas, and if you can get your hands on it daphnia also works well. The best thing besides that is to just fast your fish for at least a few days.

What kind of fish is sick?

a glo fish....the kind that's associated with the zebra danios. My other yellow glo lite fish (that now makes both of my yellow ones) has something wrong with it too. I isolated them from the others. I'll try the peas and stuff, but I have a feeling it's going to be too late for them.

What little I have read on egg binding is that it is fatal, I have read about some epsom salt treatments but Tetras don't do well with salt-sorry
