Neons losing colour

I have 9 neon tetras in a 10g q tank. Dozey set the 10g q tank up yesterday and transferred the tetras from a 3g. We initially started out with 11 neons, one died in the 3g, and one died shortly after being added to the 10g. We believe they died because the 3g-q was too small to sustain all 11.

This morning I noticed the colouring on the tetras, appears to be fading. The blue and red is hardly noticeable. The lil guys otherwise appear to be healthy, swimming around and eating. Is this colour loss a cause for concern?

Neons and some other fish lose their color at night after lights out. They should color up after the lights are on for a little while.

It's probably normal.

Phew...is that great news Lucy. I'm already attached to these lil fishies, and Dozey and I cant wait to get them into the 35 g. He has gone to great lengths to save the 9 remaining.
We rushed back out yesterday to buy the 10g, after just getting home, from a more casual trip to the LPS, to buy more plants and food for the pleco and snail.

It's very startling the first time you see it, isn't it?

The tank will look really nice with a big school. Neons are really pretty.
