Cory's and Platy's

Are Cory's normally aggressive? I added three Cory's to my 20 gallon tank that had a male molly and a female platy. Apparently, while we slept...we think one of the Cory's bit the molly as it looks like he has skin hanging from its nose. Was this not a good idea to put 3 cory's in the tank? Of course, PetCo said, "Sure, they will be fine together". Thanks in advance for your help.

Cories are generally pretty peaceful fish that hang out on the bottom, and I would doubt one took a chunk out of your mollie. Mollie's can be a bit aggressive, and I wonder if the mollie went after your cory and hit his nose on an orniment or something.

Honestly...I believe exactly what you are saying. The mollie is very aggressive and I know this because he (and it I know it is a he because HE has impregnated the Platy twice now)...and he chases her all the time. Ahh...love!

So, when my wife told me that she thought one of the Cory's took a bite out of him...I was a little shocked. Thanks jdhef!

Welcome to fishlore plaperriere

I very much doubt the cory bit th mollie, for a start corys dont have teeth so its a small chance it oculd damage your mollie even if it tried its best.
I agree with jdhef on this one

I really dont think that the responsible one (for the pregnancy of the platy) is the mollie. They cannot cross-breed, it is likely that the platy was already pregnant when you got it (they can store sperm for a very long time).

That does not mean that the Mollie wont try of course
