What are good invertebrates to get for a small tank in order to keep it clean.
Thanks

I love shrimp for a small tank to help keep it clean. However many other fish love shrimp for snacks.

if you plan on keeping small fish, shrimp would be very good at keeping the tank clean.

I have a Gold Apple snail that's quite interesting to watch and when he’s not sleeping he’s on cleaning duty. He works the entire tank including glass, rocks, plants, gravel, heater, filter intake and even the air hoses. And like the shrimp some fish like escargot.

I'll agree with the gold apple snail. There aren't a lot of options for "cleaners" in a betta tank, but my snail is doing a great job!

The fish i Plan on having are 2 Dwarf Gouramis, Some Guppies and some Neons. Will any of these eat the shrimp?

I believe gouramis eat shrimp, but I believe if the shrimp are large enough and have some driftwood to hide in when they molt that you can keep them together.

Gourami do like shrimp snackies, but I have several shrimp with my DG and neons. It's a well planted tank with lots of hiding spots. The shrimp have grown quite large now and the DG doesn't mess with the bigger ones with the exception of maybe at molting time. It's likely you will have a couple of shrimp casualties, but if you choose something inexpensive like ghost shrimp at like $.33 a piece you can get several with lots of hiding spots and many will make it.

I would get some ghost shrimp, they're 3 for a $1 at my local pet store, and they have almost no bio load so you could get a bunch of them. -fishlover78

The problem with the snails is that even though they do eat everything that falls in the bottom, they are big waste producers... So, unless your water changing regime is strict, I wouldnt recommend them for a small tank.

Please be aware that the DG, may show territorial disputes and fight. especially when in a small tank.
