length of intake tube(Filter)

The length on my intake tube for my filter(PETCO Power Filter 65) is adjustable. How far down into the tank should it be?
Thx

I don't have the PetCo filter, but I set the bottom of my filter intake tube about 2-3 inches above the gravel. I figured that this will circulate the water the best. It shouldn't be any lower than that or it may suck up gravel.

All of my filters suck in water near the bottom and spit it out at the top. Seems to work for me if that helps............

My filter has two intakes. One at mid level and the other about 2 inches from gravel. If I only had one intake I would have it at 2 to 3 inches from my gravel.

I keep mine pretty close to the bottom and it works like a charm, you see if the intake is close to where the filter return is it will just keep filtering the same water which will not do you any good. -fishlover78
