Arrived at Big Al’s 30 minutes before they opened and got in line with the 200 people in front of me. I knew exactly where they kept the Pythons. Clawed my way through the crowd and got my Python. 25’ with all the adaptors and gravel vacuum plus a free algae mitt for 40 bucks. Mint!!! 11 neons, an air pump and whole lot of other stuff. I’ve already taken the python out for a test drive. Did a water change in about 10 minutes and I’m not medicating myself for back pain right now. Awesome!!!

OH by the way, I have two 5 gallon pails and a gravel vacuum/siphon available free to a good home.

The neons look healthy but despite that they will be spending the next three weeks quarantined. Although I only have one fish in the tank I don’t want to take any chances introducing fish to my tank. Reading your threads has taught me a lot.

Fishlips thought I was crazy for wanting to be 30 minutes early; boy did her chin drop when we pulled into the parking lot. As did mine. I did figure there would be a few people waiting and wanted to be sure I got my python, but wow I sure didn’t expect the crowd we encountered.

I’ve never done the “Boxing Day Sale” thing before. Gees I’m sure glad I wanted a python and not a large screen TV.

Bella, sorry to hijack your post:

Dozey, since you just got one, can you please explain to me how a python works? I've read the online descriptions, but it just doesn't make any sense. I'm not sure I'd be able to use one anyway, since I have to treat my tap water because of high concentrations of ammonia, but if I could figure something out it would sure beat carrying buckets upstairs.

Good video, wish I had seen it before I used mine for the first time. I don’t have to pinch the hose as my Python has a shut off value near the vacuum. But I’m sure glade my pleco was in his cave when I opened the valve to start filling or would have blown him into the glass. So what I learned today is to open that valve real slow.

I must admit the instructions are a bit confusing. Open value A (see figure B) close valve B (see figure A). Run to tank C turn on water from source D (see figures E and F) etc, etc, etc.

Despite my nebieness I did manage to do a 30% water change in about 10 minutes. And it didn’t hurt at all. Don’t worry about your ammonia in your tap water; it’s there whether you use bucket (ouch) or the Python. I just added drop of Prime to the stream of water as I filled.

Feel free to PM me and I will share my successes and mistakes. Despite a bit of confusion and a couple of mistakes my first experience went fairly smoothly and I highly recommend this product.
