When you can't get meds

Well,
1 of my new Dwarf Gourmai's has what I believe is a fungus..I kinda noticed it when I brought him home but thought it just might be air bubbles on his fin...I didn't want to treat him if it was nothing..Today I can tell it is something..It looks like white little balls on the tip of his fin..When I got him his top fin was very short like it had been torn or nipped. I've only had him for 2 days..The other one is doing great. I went to get some fungus medicine and of course our Walmart has NOTHING..I'm not sure how long it will be untill I can get to a bigger LFS..IS there anything else I can do??

Consider how long it will be before you can get to a better pet store (even a Petco or Petsmart). If it will be more than, say, three days, you may want to consider doing salt dips. (This is where salt is, in my opinion, worthwhile). If you can get to one this weekend or on Monday, though, plenty of clean water, like Shih-Tzu Mom said, is going to be good.

OH MY GOSH...So..I just drove 2 hours to the closest store that sold fish...Happened to be a Walmart...Thinking they would have meds....NOPE...they don't..Geez...that was a wasted trip...There fish looked awful..But I did need a couple more glofish to make a school...So I did get some..They looked good..but its' pretty hard to kill a zebra danio so What the heck..My sister is going to a bigger city tomorrow..She said she would look for me...I'll hold off on the salt bath to see if she can find anything..My goodness...I swear I will be opening a LFS of my own...Someday......Maybe..

Another thing to think about (when it's not the Holiday shipping season) is Doctors Foster and Smith. They usually ship within 24 hours, and their stuff arrives pretty fast. All of my orders have arrived within 72 hours of placing them.

thatpetplace.com is another one that ships very quickly, even just using the standard shipping option.

Choffman; i am not sure if you can use salt for your fish, but if you check it out it is a very good alternative to waiting and use a lot less then recommeded. hope this helps. bella
