Possible Problem??

I think i have another problem. i purchased 2-oranda's the first of oct; from Pj's Pet Shop, they looked and acted good and the one who i call Top-Hat-aka-Topeze is bottom sitting and has been since purhase-he wakes up to eat and root around a little bit but mostly on bottom and sleeping all day long. Now i do 50.% water changes daily and have done since they came home.and the waste coming from one of them suggest an illness as it is white and stringy. Do i have another case of some kind of parasite and which med should i use lol. I was on another site and it was suggested that people use salt[aquarium] first before meds.or am jumping the gun here ;lol.i have to tap on the glass to wake him, and his eyes are closed, so he is sleeping and it is hot in my house. All signs suggest illness-parisite's, but i would like to know-or is this normal for a goldie?? they are about 1-2-years old wen is fully developed.lots of help needed. the other one has a problem-wen related and another post.bella

The way I see things, "meds before salt" is a better way to go. The meds do the same thing, but with less strain on the fish. Salt is an old-school remedy, and sometimes is useful, but for the most part, there are more effective, less harmful remedies.

White, stringy poo is not normal for a goldie, at least not for mine. All I've ever seen was brownish.

I would start with Jungle Labs Parasite Clear, if it were me. A few people around here have used it to good effect.

I thought so,Sirdarksol; now my water is as follow's-ammonia-0.25 before water change and after added prime. nitriate-0 nitrate-20 pH-7.5, ch-120,kh-180. so i can't read them but i knowthe ammonia should be -0-, i have a 5-gallon for him with air running right now and will start to treat him tonight with jungle-gard as i find that good as well-i didn't think too much of him sleeping until i saw the waste wasn't right. bella

If it's a Jungle Labs product that deals with internal parasites, you're good to go. They seem to make quality meds.

Clamping is when the fish pulls some or all of its fins in toward its body, "clamping them against its sides." It is the equivalent of the human's fetal position.

Oh, ok i have never seen that in any of the goldies or betta's for that matter. And what is flashing? Sorry but i don't know and would like to know as you hear it all the time or read it lol bella

Flashing is, I believe, quick, jerking movements that rub the fish on the side of the tank, or on plants or decor. It is a sign of external parasites; the fish is scratching an itch, much the same way we'll instinctively slap at mosquitoes.

Flashing is when a fish scrapes its body against objects, plants, gravel. Something is irritating them and they are trying to rid themselves of it. They do this with Ick and other parasites like fluke, off the top of my head.

I'm not sure about Clout. I've never heard of it. Jungle Labs has a good reputation. If it were me, I'd stick with them for starters.
