Java Moss

This is going to sound weird..but bare with me I'm completely ignorant when it comes to live plants...What do I do with Java Moss...I have a big clump of it and I was going to split it up and put it in 3 of my tanks...Do I need to plant it??...Tie it to something?? Let it float??....Will it attach itself onto something??

Haha, that stuff is fun... it will just do whatever it wants, really. You can put it on stuff, but it doesn't really 'attach', so it'll move if it's disturbed too much... You can tie it to stuff as well.

You are right on two of the four guesses - you can either tie it to something with a piece of wire or string, or you can just let it float around if you want. I think that it may attach itself to the things it is tied on after awhile, but it won't attach on its own.

wow, they sure are quick posters around here...

I bought some large rocks and attached mine to them with rubber bands. It's been at least two months, but it just started growing rather rapidly, so I haven't tried to remove the rubber bands yet. I figure the temporary eye sore will be worth the wait. Good luck with it.

I have heard you can tie it with white cotton thread. After a while the thread will rot away.
