| | Fish Mentor | It took me a hour but I did it. Well...I got new fish.. ..I really really couldn't decide..I stood there forever..but for my 10 gallon empty cycled tank I got 2 powder blue dwarf gourami's and 3 ottos..They are settled in quite nice and here are some pics. My cycled tank has plenty of diatom algae on the rock for the ottos to eat.. |

Your blue D. Gourami's are beautiful.. they look very happy! Your otos will clean up the diatoms nicely.
Your tank looks great! Good luck with your new fishys! |

I just went to the tank to see if they were still that way...But as soon as they saw me they flared up..lol..They aren't doing it to each other as far as I've observed...just to me. |

| | Fish Keeper | you should be ok, they will most likely have their own territory and if one invade you may see a small peck or they might stare at each other and touch each other with their whisker things. Last edited by Mike19; December 18th, 2008 at 01:37 AM.

Nice job! | Yours are both male. Even though one of them has a bit of a rounded dorsal fin (the one swimming in the front of your last picture), the bottom fin on that one is still pointy and both are extremely long in comparison to a female, so you will soon see the top fin develop a point as well. Sometimes they can get the points of their fins nipped off from being kept with so many male DG's at the LFS or with other unsuitable tank mates such as barbs. If your boys aren't fighting yet, you'll probably be alright. From my personal experience, they either hit it off right away or there are terrible chasing issues right away, but it's definitely a good idea to keep a close eye on them for about a month. They're both gorgeous, best of luck to you! |
